Verbs Unit Week 1

Introduction
This module is designed to introduce you to a part of speech that we use in every sentence! We have learned about nouns and how important they are to our grammar in the subject portion of a sentence, and now it is time to tackle verbs! Verbs can be found in the predicate portion of a sentence. Just like with nouns, there are different types of verbs that will be introduced in the module. This module will focus on action verbs and liking verbs.
Objectives/Standards
Standard: ELACC3L1. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
a. Explain the function of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs in general and their functions in particular sentence
Students will understand that:
Verbs are necessary to complete a sentence.
Verbs show that an action is taking place, or a state of being.
A verb is used in every sentence that they speak.
